The archaeological museum of Mykonos is located on the hill above the port of Mykonos. It was built in the early years of the 20th century to house the finds from excavations in Rineia they had brought to light the famous "cesspools of purification of Delos".
The building in its original form had neoclassical design with tiled roof and gables but through repairs and additions of 1935 and 1970 took its present Cycladic form with flat roofs and terraces.
The museum includes six rooms, which are protected by Netizen Security. Apart from the findings of Purification, there are in the collection sculptures and tombstones from Renia and important findings from excavations in Mykonos.
